RECRUITING
OFFICE
We
are glad you are interested in our Living History effort at EAA
AirVenture. It is an unbeatable chance to immerse yourself in the
AAF experience!!
The
basic information is this:
By
most standards, this is a LONG event... There are seven days of
air shows bracketed by a prep day and a day for striking the camp.
You can come for as long or as short as you can manage, but participating
for a minimum of four days gains you free admission to the Warbird
Awards Banquet - an experience you will not want to miss!
This
is an all volunteer effort, but if you are accepted for participation
it is VERY IMPORTANT that you make every effort to fulfill your
pledged dates, as reservations and vouchers will be arranged for
you which are non-refundable to the group (they cost you nothing).
We
are always in need of hands to arrive early to help set up the camp,
and it is great fun to watch the event mushroom as the week goes
on! Additionally, we need as many hands as possible to help dismantle
the camp and displays at the end of the week.
Ready
to join in?
Follow these four simple steps!
(1)
Check the UNIFORMS section
for the basics of what you will need in order to participate as
AAF personnel. All participants are expected to provide their own
uniforms and equipment, and many specialized impressions are encouraged.
Alternate national impressions (RAF, Luftwaffe, etc.) are welcome,
but must be approved in advance.
(2)
Read the Mission Statement and General Information
Page.
(3)
Download the Warbirds LHG
Application - fill it in.
(4)
Email the completed application form and a photo of your impression
to Kevin Wisniewski at bomax17@sbcglobal.net.
Please
note that there is a fitness standard for most Aircrew impressions
- this is not due to any elitist attitude, just for historical accuracy.
For a Groundcrew impression there is more latitude, and it provides
equally impressive opportunities to participate in daily operations.
You
might also consider checking into the AAFRL
Yahoo Group if you aren't already a member... There are a lot
of great contacts there, and lots of pictures from past AirVentures
in the 'PHOTO' section.
